Holiday Pay Calculator

Use the calculator to find out what your basic rate is, and what your holiday pay would be for working that day.

When you register to work with Step Teachers, you are given the option of either taking your holiday pay as part of your weekly pay or accruing the holiday pay element to be paid out three times a year at the end of each academic term.

Before April 2024, all Teachers and Support staff working with Step Teachers were automatically paid their annual leave three times a year, but had the option to opt out and instead receive the holiday pay weekly.

From April 2024, when you register with Step Teachers you will now be given the option on how you wish to receive your holiday pay.

If you select accrued and paid automatically at the end of each term or when requested:

  • Your weekly pay will exclude holiday pay. For example, if your daily rate is £100, you will receive £89.23 in your gross weekly pay. £10.77 would be accrued along with any other days and paid to you at the end of term.

If you select accrued and paid weekly in arrears

  • Your weekly pay will include your holiday pay. For example, if your daily rate is £100, you will receive £100 in your gross weekly pay. No holiday pay has been accrued and you therefore won't receive holiday pay at the end of term.

The gross amount is then processed subject to your individual tax circumstances.
