I’ve Lost my DBS Certificate

If you lose your DBS certificate after receiving it, The Discloser and Barring Service will not issue a replacement. You will need to apply for a new DBS check. If you are working with Step Teachers currently, this can be processed for you at the current cost.

Employers, including Step Teachers, cannot accept photocopies or scans, and only the original certificate is valid.

Having the original DBS certificate is a safeguarding requirement, ensuring recruitment decisions are based on original documentation when working in schools. You will be required to bring the original DBS Certificate upon arrival of the school.
