Are the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) and Crown Commercial Service (CCS) the same?
On 1 April 2026, Crown Commercial Service and several Cabinet Office central commercial teams operating under the Government Commercial Function came together to form the Government Commercial Agency (GCA).
If your school operates under a CCS contract or framework, nothing changes. Your existing agreement and framework terms remain the same under the new GCA structure.
You will start to see Step Teachers refer to the GCA rather than CCS, but this is simply a change in name and governance. Your contractual position is unchanged.
Over the coming months, online and printed materials will gradually update to reflect the move from CCS to GCA.
