Workplace Pension Introduction

Step Teachers offer a workplace pension for teaching and support staff, provided by Options.

Step Teachers offers all its teaching and support staff a workplace pension. This is provided through automatic enrolment and administered by Options Pensions.

Upon starting with us, you will not be automatically enrolled in the pension scheme. Instead, there is a 12-week postponement period during which you will be assessed periodically for eligibility. If your weekly earnings exceed £192 during the assessment, you will be enrolled. Updates on your status will be available on the Step Perks portal, and after the initial 12-week period, you have the option to Opt In and can trigger this by emailing pensions@stepteachers.co.uk .

The minimum contribution is 5% from the employee and 3 % from the employer but you also have the choice of increasing your own contribution level at the Opt In stage or at any point in the future.  You are not able to choose the scheme but will have complete control over where your investments go once you are signed up.

As Step Teachers is a private company, we are not able to contribute to the Teachers' Pension scheme.

You can opt out of your pension with Step Teachers at any time. If you opt-out within 30 days of signing up through automatic enrolment, you will receive a refund of the contribution made that month.

You cannot opt out ahead of automatic enrolment.
