While online-issued documents are convenient, Step Teachers must adhere to the DfE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance, legal requirements and the Recruitment of Employment Confederation (Education Audited) guidelines.
Registration with Step Teachers requires that candidates provide original documentation to verify identity, right to work, qualifications and completion of a DBS application.
Step Teachers follow the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) ID checking guidelines when processing DBS applications.
These guidelines are also applied when verifying ID documents and proof of address even when a DBS application is not required in line with Step Teachers’ Recruitment, Selection and Vetting Policy.
