What is the notice period I need to give?

If you've secured a long-term or permanent position elsewhere, please let us know as soon as possible so we can keep your work record up to date and avoid contacting you about future opportunities.

There is no contractual notice period for temporary assignments. Temporary assignments can be ended at any time by Step Teachers, the client, or the worker.

While there is no requirement to provide a specific amount of notice, we encourage candidates to keep in regular contact with their consultant and let us know as early as possible if their circumstances change, their availability changes, or they are considering ending an assignment.

Early communication often allows us to support you with any concerns or challenges you may be experiencing in your role. In many cases, issues can be addressed before they develop into reasons for leaving an assignment. It also helps us work with schools to minimise disruption and maintain continuity for pupils, while ensuring we can support you with future opportunities.

If you are planning to leave a long-term placement, your consultant may discuss whether there are practical ways to manage the transition. Depending on the circumstances, this might include helping you complete a placement through to a natural break, such as the end of term, or supporting a smooth handover to minimise disruption.

We appreciate any notice you are able to give, but there is no contractual requirement to provide a specific amount of notice for temporary assignments.
