We want to take one of your supply teachers on contract. What do we need to do, and what’s the charge?

To hire a supply candidate on contract, the first step is to contact your Step Teachers consultant and confirm your interest in offering the candidate a contract. Once the contract length and pay scale are established, we will provide details on the associated charges.

Your consultant will also discuss the various payment options available, which include:

  • Extended Period of Hire – Spreading the cost over a longer term.
  • Secondment – Placement fee divided into multiple terms.
  • Permanent Placement Fee – A one-time charge for direct hiring.

Additionally, if the candidate has already worked on supply at your school, you may be eligible for discounts. Your consultant will ensure you receive the best possible terms while maintaining flexibility for your school's needs.

If your school is operating under a Crown Commercial Services (CCS) or Herts for Learning (HfL) contract with Step Teachers, the terms, fees, and conditions are already set out in advance, ensuring a transparent and streamlined process.
