I've just received a P45 from Step Teachers, but I thought I was still on the books?

Periodically, Step Teachers issues P45s to candidates who are registered with us but have not worked for some time.

Why Are P45s Issued?

Issuing P45s is a legal requirement to maintain accurate records with HMRC. It ensures compliance with tax and employment regulations.

Can I Still Be Approached for Work?

Yes. Receiving a P45 does not prevent us from contacting you for future opportunities, provided you have indicated that you are open to work.

How to Access Your P45 and Payslips

Your P45 is uploaded to the Step Perks portal. Please download this document, along with any required payslips, as your access to the portal will expire three months after the P45 is issued.

P60 Issuance and Tax Year End

  • Will I receive a P60?
    No, you will not receive a P60 for the current tax year unless you start working with us again before 5th April (the end of the tax year).

  • Why?
    P60s are only issued to candidates who are active workers at the close of the tax year. Once a P45 is issued, you are no longer classified as an active worker by HMRC.
